Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup is a two-yearly match between the USA and the best non-US professionals and non-European professionals.

 

Each team is made up of 12 players and played over four days. Retief was picked to play in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007. On the losing side in 2000, 2005 and 2007, in 2003 when the event was held in South Africa, the Cup was shared after the event was deemed a tie when Woods and Els playing in a playoff were unable to complete their match due to darkness.


Dunhill Cup

Retief represented South Africa in the Alfred Dunhill Cup at St Andrews in 1995, 1996, 1997,1998, 1999 and 2000. Winning the event twice, in 1997 and 1998 playing alongside Ernie Els and David Frost.


World Cup

Partnered Ernie Els to represent South Africa in World Cup in 1993, 1995, 2000 and 2001. Won ithe event in 2001 in Japan after a four-way play-off.

 

Goodwill Trophy

Retief captained the Goodwill Trophy played at Mission Hills in November 2006, it was the first team event which was International v's Europe & US
