Last week was disappointing, after my last two rounds at Wentworth I flew to the States feeling very positive. Unfortunately the momentum didn't continue and shooting a 78 on the Friday in Memphis meant I missed the cut. I like to play a week before a major, I feel it's good practice. I'd rather play than hit balls on a range a week before a major but unfortunately this time it didn't work out.

I am now in California ready for the US Open starting Thursday. Torrey Pines is a tough course, the longest course ever played in a Major. Despite winning the US Open twice, the last couple of years haven't been so good, I've missed the cut, so am hoping for a better week this week.

Thank you for all your messages wishing me luck this week and also to those of you congratulating me on the Decanter World Wine Award. I hope you all enjoy the wine.

Best wishes
Retief
