Retief resumed his battle with Ernie Els at Fancourt to finish in a share of second place at the Volvo Golf Champions. The tournament went into a 3 way play off which was won by South African Branden Grace. Retief played steady golf throughout the week posting rounds of 72, 68, 70 and 70.

On Saturday Retief treated the media by inviting them to his Upper Langkloof Valley wine farm to sample the Goose Wines Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon blend, Shiraz and port. They also hit some drives off an elevated tee which has breathtaking views towards a dam.
