When we are commissioned to design a new course, our services can be split into several distinct phases:
The first step is to review the existing site to determine its suitability for golf. We make initial investigations into the physical characteristics of the site including topography, soils, environmental, ecology, water availability and climate.
After the initial investigation, we determine the best locations for golf, for housing, for hotels or for any other commercial activities planned for the development. This often involves collaboration between us and the client, master planners, housing architects, engineers, planning consultants, financial advisors, environmental agencies and the planning authorities.
Finally, a golf course plan is developed showing how golf will flow through the site. Once agreed by the client, it is ready for submission to relevant authorities for approval.
Upon approval, detailed design work commences to produce the full package of plans required for construction. These will include plans for staking, grading, clearing, drainage, landscape concept, iGrrigation, grassing, green details and construction details for each element of work.
In addition to the plans, other documentation is required prior to construction starting. Detailed specifications, quantities and tender documents are critical. These are all produced by us prior to negotiating the construction contract.
During the construction phase, we undertake frequent inspection of the work to ensure that the designs and specifications are followed by the contractor. At the same time, design changes deemed necessary due to site conditions are reviewed during these visits.
We are able to produce 3D animated fly-throughs and visuals of proposed golf holes. A powerful sales tool, it is also a hugely successful means of demonstrating the design intent to client, planning authorities and potential customers.
